Once the winners were announced ("Brokeback Mountain," "Capote," "Crash" and "Transamerica" split the top prizes), the evening was really just getting started. The party atmosphere that surrounds the Independent Spirit Awards kicked up a notch as a lot of those present traveled a couple of blocks to continue the celebration at Shutters on the Beach.
Carrying the day's 'beach' theme through to the decorations, the traditional red carpet where the media lined up outside the party was blue, and the huge IFC poster set up for celebs to pose in front of sported sea turtles, jellyfish and little fishes. Nice touch. Although most of the stars quickly ducked into the party without stopping for interviews, a few did and for that I for one am immensely grateful.
