The Field Narrows to 15 Oscar-Worthy Documentary Films

15 Documentaries Make the List for Outstanding Achievement in 2007

15 documentary films released in 2007, including Michael Moore's Sicko, have made the cut to be voted on for the 80th Academy Awards to be held on February 24, 2008. Academy voters who are a part of the Documentary Branch watched all 70 eligible documentary films before narrowing the field of Oscar-worthy pics down to just 15. From that 15, five will earn Oscar nominations.

  • Body of War
  • For the Bible Tells Me So
  • Lake of Fire
  • Nanking
  • No End in Sight
  • Operation Homecoming: Writing the Wartime Experience
  • Please Vote for Me
  • The Price of Sugar
  • A Promise to the Dead: The Exile Journey of Ariel Dorfman
  • The Rape of Europa
  • Sicko
  • Taxi to the Dark Side
  • War/Dance
  • White Light/Black Rain
  • Nominations for the 80th Academy Awards will take place on Tuesday, January 22, 2008. The Academy Awards will be held on Sunday, February 24, 2008.
