Interscope Records prepares to release the soundtrack to one of the most highly anticipated movies of the year, "Gangs of New York". The 18-track compilation is comprised of critically acclaimed artists and songwriters. The premiere single, "The Hands That Built America" performed by Interscope recording band U2 has everyone buzzing about the possibility of it being nominated for "Best Original Song" at the Academy Awards. Another notable track is "Signal To Noise" from Interscope recording artist Peter Gabriel which takes the album further into the upper ranks of collected works compiled onto a single disc.
An epic, original story unlike any we've seen in recent memories, "Gangs Of New York", deals with our shared history -- America at its roots. Martin Scorsese does what he knows best as the film brilliantly unfolds in 1860's lower Manhattan during a period of great unrest in America. With the Civil war underway, the country was torn apart and on the brink of chaos. For the lower-class inhabitants of New York City, a war was also raging closer at home. An explosive American epic overflowing with passion, history, intrigue, and conflict, starring a potent mix of today's most respected actors (Daniel Day-Lewis, Leonardo DiCaprio and Cameron Diaz). The film is the most expansive, visceral look back at our vibrant beginnings as a nation since the "Godfather" series ... and no other soundtrack has complimented a film of this nature and caliber with such emotion and accuracy-providing an even more pristine backdrop.
